Oh - you mean I should use  avifile-0.7.3-date 
Well the tgz is just some name - you do not have to preserve
(at least the Debian package is named this way:

libavifile0.6-0.6.0-date

and the new one

libavifile0.7-0.7.X-date

If this will make some user more happy I could of course
use -0.7.3-date :)
