Ok - could you send me a sample of such file ?
(the first 1MB)
It might be th problem of bad mp3 decoder - I think ffmpeg mp3 decoder
curently produced some bed results yet the original author is aware
of this problem - meanwhile you could try to switch to and old
MPEGIII or MAD mp3 decoder (in Config/Decoders audio) menu.

open ~/.avm/aviplay file and modify aproriate line into this shape:
audio_renderer SDL,OSS,noaudio
Most probably you have OSS as the first one - and there is not implemented
volume control so far...

Yep know issue it's a serious bug in compiler which basicaly makes
exceptions unusable with optimalizations as it leads to
instant application abort - I'm slowly removing throws from the code
(and they shouldn't be in the most 'executed' parts) but yet there
are still some of them like this one left - they will be eliminated
over the time as well - for now there are these solution -
do no compile with optimalizations - or use different working
compiler (gcc2.95.2 gcc3.1)
