Send Avifile mailing list submissions toI did read the install document, but I don't understand it. I tried running the command "rpm -ba /usr/src/packages/SPECS/avifile.spec" like it said for RedHat, but I get an error saying -ba is an unkown option. I'm aksing for help because I've only been using Linux for a few days and don't know what I'm doing.

Hello,You should also get 'ffmpeg' cvs (mainly the libavcodec part)
I recently installed RedHat Linux 8, and have been trying to learn how to use it.
I found a program called MPlayer, and it plays my mp3s, but when I try to play .avi, .mpeg, .mpg, or DivX files, all I get is sound. I am guessing I don't have the right codecs?
Also I guess you should ask for help on some mplayer-user-list
- they love such question :) (though I may easily predict the answer you will
get - and it will be just 4 letter long :))
I downloaded avifile-0.7.22-20021129.tgz and divx4linux-20020418.tgz, but how do I install them?Try reading INSTALL document you will find in avifile tgz.
Also, where do I get the ffmpeg cvs? Do you have a link to the MPlayer groups, or know of another movie player I can use?
