Thanx for straightening this out. It was not at all obvious to
me from the docs.... ;)

AVI-files generated by the "short video clip" option of the
Canon Powershot S40 still camera consistently turn out this way.
Might be some bug there for all I know. A couple of samples are
here for anyone who cares to examine them:

I have not had the time to test this any further myself today.
