My half-hearted initial attempt on an avrdude GUI after I split off the library from the CLI frontend was also based on wxwidgets, using wxGlade as the GUI layout tool. But as I mentioned, I didn't get it anywhere near the state the old avrdude-gui has been in. Qt would be another option. AFAICT it's no longer a pay-only option for win32 environments now.
