Can you define "weirdly offset"?
When you set recenter:true on an elevation, the depth generated by the
code is exactly 1/2 of the mesh. the pivot will be set at exact center.
if you don't, the first Number3D will be used as x,y,z position for
the mesh.
So here you have more options like: use the minY to applyPosition(),
movePivot(), or simply move the resulted mesh.y by just adding y+=
minY. (depending of course on the axis you pass and eventual rotation
of the mesh)
and if you plan to move something on the surface, there is a variable
Number3D offset available just made for this.
