The only reason it would (should) be taking that long to compile, is because
you have a lot of library classes set to export.

I don't think it's away3d's fault, here are some tricks you can try if it
helps:

1. Try to build your app not using anything from the library, such as
replacing materials with wireframes (default) for now. And/or using another
FLA that DOESN'T have anything in the library to compress (jpgs..mp3's etc
set to export).

2. Anything you want to build/add to your (huge?) app - try to get it done
separately and add when you know it will work. Something along what Li is
saying.

3. Try to quit other programs, or get a faster machine (cpu) to compile
with.

4. Anytime you are working with a huge app in Flash, you might have to
clench your teeth and hope for the best :O
