Hey themightyatom fist of all, very nice effect! we are working to get this functionality into the Lite engine by default.
the lookat function will cause the z axis of the plane(the normal) to flip around and point at whereever you specify. i'm not sure why you are seeing the y axis flip, will check that out. the camera you are curently using is the hovercamera which in lite is designed to be used by manilupating the tiltAngle and panAngle properties. In order to stop this, you can do one of two things: halt the call camera.hover() in the onEnterFrame function use Camera3D instead, and use rotationY instead of panAngle to rotate left and right hth!
