Hello hello, new to the group and glad to be here. I am currently working on a demo for a company using Away3D to make a 3D interactive construction site where you pilot a crane from the cockpit. My boss is currently suggesting I use a 2D HUD resembling the crane's cab to navigate through the world. I've been looking into using Movie Materials on a Plane set in front of the camera, so that the bulk of the coding can be done separately and put in as a finished file. The problem would be to alter the 3D world (the parent SWF) from the interactions on the 2D HUD (the child SWF). Is this possible? Can data be passed between the two SWFs?
Alternatively, is there a better/simpler way of going about setting up an interactive 2D HUD? I'm still getting the grasp of Away3D and there isn't a whole lot explaining how to integrate in a way that I've found usable. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! (I am using Away3D in a Flex Library in Flash Builder 4, by the by)
