Hi all,

I've got a million questions right now, so I'm just going to ask a few
of them and see if I can get any answers. I'm pretty comfortable with
AS3 and general OO principles, but I'm new to 3D modelling and I'm
rapidly finding out that it's a huge and complex subject and I'm going
to have to put a bit of time in to learning it.

In no particular order:

1. Are there any decent resources for learning about PreFab3D and the
whole process of preparing models for use in Away3D?

2. When I load and parse a model, I get an ObjectContainer3D with a
bunch of Object3Ds as children sometimes with BitmapMaterials,
sometimes appearing with WireframeMaterials. If I apply a material to
the ObjectContainer3D the children never inherit it. If I loop
through the children and apply the material directly, the material
seems to be applied but the children still don't change appearance.
Why is this and how do I apply the material so it renders?

3. The shading on Disconnected (you've all seen it, right?) is
beautifully executed. Was this done programatically or was the
shading baked in to the model?

4. Is there an overhead from applying textures programatically instead
of applying them in a modelling application? Do I get better results
from baking in the textures beforehand?

5. Files like 3ds and awd seem to contain a whole load of stuff.
What's in them? I naively thought they would contain a mesh.
Actually they seem hold a bunch of meshes and materials. Presumably
they can contain a number of meshes each with their own material.
Does each mesh have to have a single texture or can a single mesh use
several textures?

6. Continuing from the above, can 3D files contain nested
3DObjectContainers (or whatever they're called outside of Away3Dland)

These are all fairly basic questions I imagine, but if anyone can
answer any one of them or at least point me at some good learning
resources I would be most grateful.

Thanks!
