With the arrival of Lion and XCode 4 changes, in addition to the many
graphics models to support across the various OSX versions, the cost
of supporting OSX 10.4/10.5 increases significantly. There is a
tradeoff – investing effort in trying to bring new features like
Molehill to 10.4 and 10.5 would have come at the expense of other new
features in Flash Player 11 and AIR 3. The other benefit of upping the
system requirements is that we are able to remove legacy code and work
on rearchitecting the Mac player for better performance and stability.
