The first thing I do is to look at the cangelog, in particular to the
parts marked with 'awesomerc';
in most cases the changes in the functions or syntax determines a change
in the default configuration, so that
it is enough to export this change to my own config.

If this does not work, I use vimdiff to compare my own rc.lua with the
default one, looking for not intentional
differences.

The first action should not require more than 5 minutes, the second one
not more than 20, but YMMV.
