Similar situation here. After an upgrade Awesome with Gnome stopped working. I sought help and the conclusion was that the Gnome developers make it harder with every release to use individual Gnome components. Gnome is not supposed to be modular any longer. So if you're not using the whole thing you're running an unsupported setup and are basically on your own. The suggestion was to use plain Awesome without Gnome, and then add the needed functionality. That's what I ended up doing. However, there is some work involved. With Gnome you just change the window manager and everything works out-of-the-box. A custom setup takes some time to shape it the way you want it to be. Sorry that I can't help fixing your Gnome setup. Just wanted to let you know that you're not along struggling with those Gnome issues and suggest a possible solution (which will of course create other problems, but that's the fun, isn't it? ;). > The wiki specifies a section on 3.0 <= Gnome < 3.4, which if I > read correctly means does _not_ include version 3.4. Indeed, the wiki wasn't much of a help here. Possibly people got bored of updating it with every new Gnome version. But if you manage to fix your Gnome setup, feel free to update the wiki. Marco
