Indeed. Especially since I prefer Qt over GTK and now I use the GTK
interface for Network Manager.

The problem is that the tray icons in Plasma are indicators which are
themed by the desktop environment.

This makes them look nice in combination with each other and the desktop
environment itself. The tray icons that are shown in Awesome WM are
individual X clients which do not know about each other and have various
designs.

All this is getting worse when KDE moves further to Wayland. Then there
will be less autonomous tray icons that we can use with Awesome WM.
