Of course you would.  And I'd welcome having other people fix problems in
my stuff too.

Geez, do open source projects have to react like that to every bug
report?

Look, I know reporting a problem isn't as big a contribution as also 
fixing the problem, but if the problem weren't reported, you wouldn't
know what might need improvement.  

Also, remember that documentation bug reports from new users provide
something you can't provide yourself.  You already know how things
work, so you're not going to notice when something is missing from the
documentation.  A new user can easily notice when there's a reference
to something that hasn't be mentioned or defined yet.

It might be better to accept such bug reports, even if no one currently
feels like addressing them, instead of replying with (seemingly) snide 
remarks about patches being welcome and alienating users.
