A bit more info. Did you grab http://xml.apache.org/~rubys/client_deploy.wsdd when you got echotest.pl? I had a client_deploy.wsdd on my machine - no idea where it came from - and with that one it seemed to work. But when I grabbed the one from ~rubys I started seeing the interop problems.
