Hi,

The Debian packages for AxKit v1.6 have just been uploaded. Since
there are several new packages (examples, language modules), it'll
be a few days up to a week before they make it all the way into the
official archive (there's some manual work involved here).

For those who can't wait to try them out they're available in

  http://people.debian.org/~ardo/UPLOADS/axkit/

until they're available in the official Debian archive.

axkit for Debian
----------------

As of version 1.6 of AxKit the Debian package has been split up into
several packages. The 'axkit' package itself still contains the main
functionality. The 'axkit-examples' package contains the examples.

Due to the fact that software required by some of the AxKit modules is
not (yet) available as a Debian package the following modules have not
been packaged (yet) for Debian:

 - Apache::AxKit::Language::AxPoint
 - Apache::AxKit::Language::PassiveTeX
 - Apache::AxKit::Language::XMLNewsNITF
 - Apache::AxKit::Language::XMLNewsRDF

To keep the dependencies on external packages manageble the following
modules have been packaged seperately:

 - Apache::AxKit::Language::HtmlDoc (axkit-language-htmldoc)
 - Apache::AxKit::Language::Query (axkit-language-query)

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The 'AxPoint' module depends on PDFLib at which I'll be looking next.
The 'PassiveTeX' module depends on PassiveTeX on which another Debian
maintainer is working. The XMLNews modules are dependent on Perl modules
with unclear licenses. I'll contact the upstream author (David Megginson)
about them.

Thanks,
Ardo
