Errr... Orchard-C?!?!? Would you mind telling us where you found that 
source tarball and how old it is? I thought Orchard had been sleeping 
(or dead) for over a year.

Have you tried "perl -MCPAN -e shell", and then (after perhaps some 
questions -- answer "follow" to the prerequisites one) "install AxKit"? 
That usually flies very well.
