Right, setting it to 1em, has the same effect, and tweaking done using em units will always be nicely relative to the cascade (btw, they do accumulate through multiple divs) Oh yeah, and while I'm at it... I'm sure no-one on this list would ever do such a horrible thing, but please /don't/ use em units for other things ...
