AxPoint: Cannot output german umlauts. URGENT!

Hi list,

I just wanted to translate my english AxPoint presentation to german,
but: No Umlauts!

Tried:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<!DOCTYPE slideshow SYSTEM "/usr/local/lib/sgml/AxPoint.dtd" [

axpoint vortrag_270303.axp > vortrag_270303.pdf

Got:
Only ASCII encoding allowed without perl 5.7.2 or higher. You tried: ISO-8859-1
        (in cleanup) PDFlib: Empty document

Tried:

Got:

Syntax error [Ln: 1, Col: 16]
        (in cleanup) PDFlib: Empty document

Checked all my modules:

XML::SAX              0.12
XML::Handler::AxPoint 1.30
PDFLib                0.12

So what shall I do? Presentation is tomorrow afternoon, if everything
fails I have to use P&#x!point...

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
