Unfortunately I have no working solution for this. My suggestion is to first get PDFLib 5.0 beta-2 as it alledgedly has better unicode support, though I haven't tried it yet. Then hack the AxPoint source and see if you can set the font encoding to "unicode" (this is the encoding option to the ->set_font() method - you may have to pass this in via all calls to set_font()). If that alone doesn't work, try also calling set_parameter(textformat => "utf8"). Again, that will only work with PDFLib 5.0. I hope this works, as you're not the first person to ask, and I only just discovered that PDFLib 5.0 is now in beta.
