Well, Mandrake 9.2 is stable, definitely runs AxKit fine with NO farting
around, and its basically pretty much laid out the same as Red Hat. The
installer is one of the best ones you can find, and in general the 'Mandrake
Control Center' is pretty nice. It gives you gurpmi, the graphical package
manager. Maybe thats not QUITE as sophisticated as portage or apt-get, but
honestly its perfectly fine for my needs and I run a lot of web servers that
have highly customized setups for people. I've had very few security
problems, updates are prompt, packages are the most recent in most cases
(though they are a ways behind on libxml2/libxslt, still the ones that come
in the RPMs seem to be working fine for me).

The other nice thing is its a very high quality desktop distro as well, so I
don't have to support 2 or 3 different Linux distros. That was always the
achilles heel of RH (aside from they are clueless about how to properly
configure Perl and Apache), their desktop support is poop.
