Could the name be Rosa da Incarnacao (Incarnation)?  That is what it looked
like to me.

Dear Shirley:

Today I also found a Soares at the FHC.:  Who knows there could be a
connection?

Jose Soares X Joaquina Candida de Mello 2 Jan 1828 she was from parish of Sao
Roque, Rosto de Cao, I don't know about him.  I copied the marriage certificate
and can't figure out his, Jose's mother's name.  His father is Jose Soares X
Rosa de Inama?  Can you make out her name?  It's probably something you're
familiar with.

Regards,

Maria Elena

Hi, Maria:

One place where you will find  helpful is to join the [EMAIL PROTECTED] The
people that subscribe to that list are incredibly helpful.  I do not know the
group you mentioned.

You should, if possible, collect information from living relatives first.
l.  Name of parents
2.  Place where they were born, if Sao Miguel, then you want to know what
parish they were from; like Sao Pedro, Sao Jose, Sao Roque, etc.  That's like a
parish here.
3.  Year of birth or approximate
4.  Any brothers and sisters would be helpful of your parents and dates

Name of your paternal grandparents
same thing; place of birth; year of birth, if possible or guess

Name of your  maternal grandparents
same thing

That's a start; try to subscribe to the [email protected] if you are
interested in ANY part of the AZORES.

If you go to the website familysearch.org, you will see where you can download
for free a Personal Ancestry File (PAF) and put these names in it so you can
keep track as you go along.  It is free.
It is very helpful if you could find out what town your ancestors were from in
the Island of Sao Miguel; do you have any certificates?

Hope this gets you started.

M. Lima

(how did you get my name?
