Hi everyone, I've traced my da Ponte line back to my 6th great-grandfather Domingos da Ponte, born in Povoação (N.S. Mãe de Deus) in November 1726, son of Martinho da Ponte and Suzana de Medeiros. Any of these names sound familiar? Does anyone have the da Ponte lineage going back further than this? Any help would be appreciated. The family moved quite often from one generation to the next, from Povoação to Maia to Rabo de Peixe to Fajã de Baixo to Fajã de Cima, nearly a different freguesia for each generation!
