Thank you for the very interesting web site. These early settlers were
amazing people.
I was very interested in the voyage of the Orteric arriving Honolulu April
13, 1911 & the Willesden Voyage #1 arriving December 3, 1911. My maternal
Grandparents Jacinto & Maria Ambrosia Pereira Gonsalves immigrated to Hawaii on
either the Orteric or Willesden in 1911 from Funchal, Madeira.
The State Archives, Iolani Palace Grounds, Honolulu, HI. referred me to The
National Archives, Pacific Sierra Region located in San Bruno, CA to view
microfilm with the ships manifests. I will be viewing the microfilm this week.
The Group has been very helpful in my Azorean ancestory for my paternal
grandparents and I appreciate this information on my Maderian ancestory .

I encourage you all to read this particular article from
http://islandroutes.com/articles.shtml about the voyage of The Bordeaux and how
Portuguese were thought of by the sugar planters. One has to have so much
appreciation for all they suffered. Aloha, Charlotte
