Hi Everyone,

I've been researching my family tree for a few years, but saved the
Azores for last. Tonight I found your website and decided it was time
to jump into my Portugese research.

Bernadina was my grandmother and she passed before I was born, in fact
my father was only nine when she died and 11 when his father passed
away. My father never talked about his parents much while I was
growing up. I suppose it was just too painful for him to open the
wounds? I've always been curious to find out more about my
grandparents' family from the Azores.

I would like to get a copy of Bernadina's birth certificate to confirm
her parents names and I would love to learn more about here place of
birth Vila France do Campo (at least that's what it appears to read on
her immigration application) Can someone tell me where I need to send
for her BC? Here's what I know

Bernadina De Jesus Furtado b. 14 July 1896
Vila France Do Campo St. Miguel, Azores
Arrived in Boston Massachusetts on 24 Feb 1916
She's listed as 5' 155 pounds brown hair brown eyes
She sailed from St. Michael's on the SS Canopio
According to Bernadina's death certificate her parents are listed as
Ralina Furtado and Anna Corriera both born in St. Miguel Azores
Also listed on her DC is two of her brother's; Manuel and Antonio
She was married in Cranston, Rhode Island, USA to Manual R. Sousa
(more about him later)

Lexi
