You can find them in grocery stores sometimes, but old timers always have  
them growing in their garden.  We used to cook them in a pressure cooker.  
but they can be baked or boiled.  I remember eating them with meals like a  
potato and also chopping them up in a bowl and adding milk and sugar like you 
 would cereal.
