Hello Azores Group, I just stumbled upon this group and I am very excited about what you do. My husband is a pure blood Portugese with all four grandparents directly from the Azores. He is stuck at not being able to trace his grandparents across the pond to the Azores.
His grandfather went by Frank M. Vieira, but was also known as Francaice Mariano Vieira. He changed his name from De Silva to Vieira when he came to the States. At age 63 he registered for the WWII draft giving his birthplace as Texeira Azores. His father's name is Mariano De San Bento de Silva and he is known to have lived in Ribeira Grande, San Miguel.
