The summers can be very humid, May and August have big feasts besides the
holidays. I would think fall and spring would be a good time to go with
comfortable weather.

Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Did you visit the Azores in 2009?

Good luck finding a week there is not some kind of festa in the villages of
the Azores. Even when I went in Feb./Mar., 2003, there were some festivals.
Summer is worse; however, it is always party time there.

One thing about going in the winter time, I do not like the heat and when I
checked the temps. they were similar to those where I live. The temperature
was not cold, the rain was sometimes very strong and pushed by the wind.

The problem I had was that there is no central heat. Even though it is not
cold outside, the houses and rooms had no heat, tile floors & brick, rock or
concrete walls. In the houses, there was heat from the brick stove in the
kitchen. That did not heat the other rooms and once the fire died, it did
not even heat the kitchen. It never heated up; there were piles of blankets
on the bed that made turning over an experience I had never had. I wore a
knitted hat, gloves and sox to bed and still could not get warm.

One day in Pria da Vitoria on the Island of Terceira, I thought the wind and
rais was going to blow me into the ocean when I visited the museum that was
near the ocean.
