What a job! Portuguese printers must be rubbing their hands to gether with glee all over the world.
That would have been a tough decision to make. Imagine how hard it would be to standardise English spelling across English speaking nations. Or should I have said standardiZe? The theatre/theater people would have to reprint plays, artists would need paint relabelled with their colours/colors, clubs would have to repaint their signs to show the name of the centre/center. The difference between US and UK language is really interesting. So many of what we (UK speakers) think are modern US words and expressions are actually very old forms of original English taken to the new land on the Mayflower. Then again, it might be the economic stimulus that the world needs. But which side of the Atlantic would win?
