Legal in Brazil means nice, beautiful etc.... in Portugal it refers to the law.

The Braziliin slang is defintely more difficult to translate but "legal" 
Brazillian and European Portuguese should not be that different.

significantlly different from european portuguese. I think Brazilian portuguese 
has a much stronger relationship to spanish. My friend who is from Brazil, 
often has a difficult time translated the european portuguese for me.
