Looking for info on my great grand parents who came from the Azores to settle in Tiverton Rhode Island. Francisco Alexander Cordeiro Born: I have a few possible dates 8 Aprl 1887 , 14 Feb 1887 , his grave stone says just 1888. Earliest record I have of hi here is his marriage 29 Oct 1906 in fall River Ma which says that his village was at Ginetes and his parents where Jose or Joseph Alexander Cordeiro and Joaquima E De Jesus . My Great grandmother Rosa Luisa De Mello Born: believed to be 2 Dec 1890 .Earliest record here from marriage 29 Oct 1906 says that her village was Fenais D' Ajuda and her parents where Francisco De Mello and Esclostica R De Jesus. I believe she dropped the De here and became just Mello. Children I was told that for a while Rosa ,who here was known as Luisa with her first few children would travel to the Azores to give birth and baptize her kids their then return to the U.S. with them. Her first son I was told was named Manuel and had died over their from a sickness that was going about the region badly .She had to leave and her son died with out making it back with her. Their sons that we are pretty sure where born their are : Albert Alexander Cordeiro 13 Mar 1909 Joseph Alexander About 1812.
