Margaret,

Have you done a great deal of research on your Sao Jorge relatives? This is
such a treat to have the info Joao sent!

These ancestors that we connect on are behind my GGgrandmother, Agueda Maria da
Silveira, from Topo. Arline Silveira actually helped me with her line back to
Jean de Betencourt in the 1200's. This group has such a wealth of knowledge!

Regards,

Nancy

Nancy, I don't know much about this but It is worth noting the connection, and
I am doing that.

Greetings,

11th generation all of them are mine also......1640,1641,1644 and 1645 who I
have as Margarida Sousa Leonardes....I have her parents as Joao Leonardes and
Isabel Goncalves

   10th generation....I also have most of them....816, 817, 820, 821, 822,
823....
I have 817 as Beatriz Anes Camacho and 823 as Catarina Anes Pires

   9th generation.....I have 408, 409,410,411

   8th......I have 204 and 205

None any later than those that I can see here. So....cousins of some sort but I
find these relationships very difficult to figure out!

I'll have to get my cheat sheet out and start checking these names.

Hi Margaret,

Every time someone posts something like this I learn something new! It's nice
to now be able to differentiate between a "sailor" and a "fisherman".

These ancestors that Joao brought forth are my ancestors also back at the 11th
generation and down......I guess that makes us some kind of cousins since I see
lots of my ancestors in this chart...... I'll bet several others on the list
are connected as well!

I envy the native speakers....I wish I had the "lingua"!

Best regards,
Nancy Jean

Hi Margaret,

This is my first message after a couple years of absence from the list!...

Your attachment seems, even to a Brazilian, as : "marianse".......
it would be a kind of occupation.....

As for the meaning of that (which I do not know...) it could be
a "sea worker" ("mar" means "sea") or maybe even a fisherman
(pescador)... But, in any event a man tied to the sea.

That is the best understanding I can take from it and share with you.

It is not a name!

However you didn´t share the year of that record.... That would be
interesting to know.

Hello Group,
Could someone please take a look at the word after Sebastiam Teyxeira and let
me know what that means? He is my 6th GGfather on my paternal side.
I think I know what it might mean but I don't wish to draw any conclusions
without some of your expert advice.
Thank you.
