Hello Group, My maternal ggrandfather and his children's baptismal records show a surname change from just Medeiros to Medeiros *Ponta Garça? * I'm not quite sure what this means and wonder if anyone in the group knows if Ponta Garça is a surname as well as a place?
The earliest record I have been able to find thus far is of my 3xgfather (Marriages: 1769-1808.070 page 68 Antonio de Medeiros (my gggf), widow of Vicencia Tavares, barried in St. Lazaro's church, Parochial of S. Pedro, Vila Franca do Campo now married with Maria de Jesus (my gggm) daughter of Francisco de Oliveira and Josefa Oliveira, natural of N. Sra dos Anjos, AgPa) It doesn't state where Antonio is from and I suspect it may be Ponta Garça? Any ideas perhaps from the Ponta Garça clan, please? Thank you.
