Her father was the Jose Frias who was the son of Manuel de Frias and Maria Julia da Costa. I believe Mary Ascension Almeida was his second wife. I did some Googling and found obituaries for Stella's sisters Georgelina Frias and Virginia Medeiros. According to Georgelina's obituary, Stella was a half-sister.
