Prima Terri - What a terrific find! And thank you mances for the additional translation. We've been searching for the origin of our last name, Andre, for several years. We would be interested if members of the group think that this could be a part of this. Here's the lineage:
Manuel Jacintho emigrated to US 1904, first called Manuel Andre in 1910 census (we have all of his other records, with no mention of Andre in the Azores) F - Jose Jacinto named as PG Jose Jacinto Andre in 2 of 4 Manuel's children born in Azores, but none of Jose's other records. G1 - Francisco da Costa - this is our first record for him so far G2 - André da Costa We have many maternal records along the way, but no Andre. Mance's translation is the only occurrence other than in the children's records also from the Matriz in VFC. Is it possible that this is the origin of Andre? It looks like our next step is to look for Francisco da Costa in the San Pedro records circa 1793. Appreciate anyone's help or advice Way to go Terri!!! -- To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [email protected]. Follow the confirmation directions when they arrive.
