Could the numbers be in reference to him being naturalized? I believe they
have to verify what ship they came to the US on and maybe after the
immigration office verified it, they would write the number on the record.
Just a guess!

It looks like:

Victorino Gomes, age 24

Maria Jose da Souza, age 20

Manoel Gomes, 9 months

Victorino had a small scar on his forehead. He had black hair.

It looks like Victorino and Maria were both about 5'3"tall.

Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] Help with American Passenger Arrival list

Repost for Eric Gomes, gomes.ancestry at gmail.com

I originally obtained this record from the National Archives in San
Francisco. Recently, it was scanned and put on Ancestry.com. When I
originally found this, the person at the archives that helped me locate this

document explained what the different numbers around my relatives names
meant. However, I wasn't able to write notes as he was explaining the
meaning. I was wondering if you could help me and explain them. My Great
Grandfather, Great Grandmother, and Great Uncle are line 5-7 on this
document. Can you help me decipher the notes??

Thanks,

Eric Gomes
Castro Valley, CA

NOTE FROM CHERI: Apparently this is an American Arrival list from 1906 on
the Suveric for a Victorino Gomes, a Maria Jose de Souza, and a Manuel
Gomes.
