Sorry to interfer with this message my Borba's went by Borba one brother Barba
another, my other uncle Barber. I found that with each census the name was
spelled a different way. Good luck I'm still searching. My borba's came from
Terceria, my uncle traveled to Borba Portugal which he had family.

thanks
Loretta

Adair,

When I search the Vital search databases, I just assume some part of the record
will be incorrect, for Portugues it's usuall the spelling.

I search multiple times with different input to find that which fits best.

RE means Rest of the World, , as in where they were born. Sometimes you'll see
it as PT for Portugal or even AZ for Azores, often misread to be Arizona

89 is years old at death.

I should have given it like this with explanations

Eric,

This is terrific...how did you find it?

I notice it isn't her last name so I guess this is an interpretation I need to
consider when I search the others. Do you know what the "RE", "89" and the "0"
stand for?

Does this mean she died in Solano, California? If so, I would have never
guessed...

Thanks so much,

Adair

It appears that Manuels Brother was born in Norte Pegueno, San Jorge...so I am
guessing Manuel E was also born there.

My best Link so far to Portugal!

Adair,

I spoke with a very nice woman at the Western Sonoma County Historical Society
and she found the following. She said they are buried at a little cemetery she
thought was called Forest Lawn on the corner of Bodega Hwy but I have a feeling
it is Sebastopol Memorial Lawn Cemetery as I cannot find a Forest Lawn
Cemetery. I am not familiar with Sebastopol but she said if you get to Pleasant
Hill you have gone too far. So I have called Sebastopol Memorial Lawn and
waiting for them to call me back with exact dates of death for Jennie and
Manuel.

Manuel E. Borba 1851-1934
Jennie Borba 1856-1946
Wm. Sebastian Borba 1886-1971
Manuel I. Borba 1878-1977

The woman and the Western Sonoma County Historical Society started giving me
info in obit but I'm sorry I could not write that fast but she did tell me the
obits would have been in either the Santa Rosa Press Democrat or the Sebastopol
paper. Also, she said someone in the office did a study of some of the people
in the area and she said Borba was a familiar name in the area so you might
want to give them a jingle to see what else they might have on the family.
