The Family Finder bundle sale is on until they get a certain number, just
short of overwhelming the lab. That's why they have not set a deadline.
But, since it's been a couple of weeks since announcing it, my guess is that
they are close to reaching the magic number of overwhelming the lab.

The Family Finder test uses a chip. There are only 2 companies that make
this chip to run the test. The president of FamilyTree DNA (FTDNA), Bennett
Greenspan and the vice-president, Max Blankfeld (he was born in Brazil) have
gone to both companies trying to negotiate, but got nowhere. And I guess
the companies aren't into competitive pricing with each other, so FTDNA
cannot see the price of the Family Finder test going down -- at least not at
this time. So it won't be on sale at the end of the year. The best they
could do was this bundle.

The bundles:
Family Finder + Y-DNA 12: You get the Family Finder test ($289) and the
Y-DNA 12 markers ($99) which would add up to $388, but you get it for $299
($289 for Family Finder plus $10 for the Y-DNA 12). The Y-DNA 12 markers
won't tell you much to start out, but they do have some upgrade sales from
time to time, so if you wanted to, you could just bide your time until it
goes on sale. This is for men only.

Family Finder + mtDNA (basic): You get the Family Finder test ($289) and the
mtDNA (basic) ($99) which would add up to $388, but you get it for $299
($289 for Family Finder plus $10 for the mtDNA (basic) test). BUT, because
for the most part, the mtDNA Basic doesn't tell you much, they have included
an upgrade for mtDNA Basic to the Full Genomic Sequence for $189 more (on
top of the $299).

For existing customers who have has only mtDNA Basic (HVR1) or mtDNA Plus
(HVR2) tested, you can also upgrade to the Full Genomic Sequence for $189.

If you have questions, you can email me or Rick Pimentel and we can answer
them or help you order.
