After retiring at the end of July, I have been slowly catching up on all the
notes and data I had no time to process. I had done more work on my maternal
lines, especially on Sao Miguel, than on my Italian paternal lines. Well, I
have been busy putting my paternal lines together and have after all these
years come full circle connecting my maternal lines to the same common
ancestors on my paternal lines. If you go back to the Middle Ages, my mother's
family and my father's family descend from the same family lines in Aragon. It
seems that if you go back far enough, we all have a bit of illegitemate royal
blood in us. :)

The royal bastards from the Royal House of Aragon end up in my family tree on
my Portuguese ancestors through D. Pedro of Aragon, the illegitemate son of
King Pedro III of Aragon, and Pedro's wife D. Constancia Mendes Petita da
Silva; while my Italian ancestors through D. Orlando of Aragon. D. Orlando is
the illegitemate son of D. Fadrique of Aragon & his mistress, Sibilla
Solimello. D. Fadrique is the legitemate son of King Pedro III of Aragon. So
the circle is complete.... I am sure there are similiar connections elsewhere.
I have found the same information in several sources, so I am fairly sure it is
correct.

So we are are one bis happy family!

Merry Christmas and a healthy 2011...
