Hi Joe,
Well I'm not related as far as I know, but I am a Sousa from Vila
Franca (at least my dad was). I met some of your Sousa Batata
relatives on my last trip to Vila Franca in 1998, they were potters in
Sao Pedro parish in the neighborhood called Vila Nova. My dad was
with me at the time and they knew each other and were of the same
age. My dad's aunt, Maria Jose de Sousa Valente went to Plymouth as
well as his uncles Jose and Joao(John) Sousa around the 1910's.
I do come across the Sousa Batata name often when I'm searching for my
own ancestors.
Happy hunting!
Maria Natalia
