Correct me if I'm wrong, but there were Jewish people that came to the
island to escape persecution so some of them are carrying the Jewish
surname. I want to say Pimentel is one of them.

There was a site I saw a few years back that actually showed each area of
the island that were descendants from a particular country, i.e., Vila
Franca were people from France.

Subject: [AZORES-Genealogy] Catholic or Jewish Roots?

This question keeps coming up for me so I want to ask it here. Does anyone
know whether the roots of their azorean ancestors were Jewish (Sephardic)?
I was baptised Catholic;.however, this subject has intrigued me for a while
and I cannot find much informatioon on it. I would love any feedback from
you
