Attention anyone with a connection to East Providence, RI!!
In my mother-in-law's effects we found the program from the dedication of Saint Francis Xavier School in East Providence RI, December 1959. This booklet is about 50 pages long, and is somewhat like a yearbook. There are pictures of the priests and nuns associated with the parish and the school past and present (present being 1959), photos of church members and pictures of the parish and some of its history, including photos of a group of some of the original parishioners. There are also pictures of classes, Kindergarten through 3rd grade, from 1959, as well as the church choir, CYO Youth Group leaders, Holy Name Society and Holy Rosary Sodality, and so on. The historical pictures include the Children of Mary Sodality, 1942, as well as parish plays and shows in the 1930's. There are also lists of donors who contributed to the school. The book is unfortunately too long to scan in its entirely, but if anyone has a connection to this parish at this time or earlier, I will be glad to look for a name and then scan you the pages if I find a person. Contact me off list if you'd like a more detailed description of the contents. Eileen Leite Whose husband is in one of the 2nd grade pictures!!
