Dick Eastman (genealogy tech guru - his bio is here: http://goo.gl/mbReM) is at a conference in South Carolina. He went to an Ancestry presentation where they shared upcoming databases and features. Although nothing about Portuguese records was mentioned, other databases for us mutts (or for those who do research for others) were mentioned. He also discussed some apps and mentioned Family Tree Maker and I believe the family trees on Ancestry (I know some list members who use Ancestry.com for their family tree software). Ancestry will not have access to the U.S. 1940 Federal Census until April 1st, 2012, so it'll take a few months to index.
