Is your family from SLO area? I am looking for Costa and/or Santo(s) who
may have lived in SLO or environs in the 1920-30’s. I have a picture of my
Uncle Manual (da) Costa and his wife, Adelaide (nee: do Espirito Santo) with
their son Charles (Charlie) and his wife? May/Mae (Benton), her daughter and
a person that looks like Joe (Jose da Costa), Manual’s brother in front of a
house in SLO. They, except Joe, lived in Hawaii and had their car with 1924
Hawaii plates shipped to SF. They then took the “Coast Route” finally
arriving in San Diego for shipment home. They wrote on the pictures, I
have. The address number of the house where the pictures were taken is:
2059. I don’t know the street name. I am trying to find out if they
stopped in SLO area to visit relatives or ?? During that period of time, it
would have been a difficult trip by car and SLO would have been “out of the
way”.

I may not be able to answer you for a while, so please be patient. I can’t
send the pics right now but can send them later.

Just wondering, if there is a connection.

Ronnie French (da Costa, Azores/do Espirito Santo(s), Madeira) immigrated
through Kingdom of Hawaii in 1879 (Santo) and 1883 (Costa)

John,

I don’t have much information about the Mirandas. Like I said, he was my
great grandmother’s second husband. The info I have is from their headstone,
cemetery records and census’. His first wife’s name was Maria 1856 – 1908.
He’s buried with both of his wives. The second wife is Roza Pacheco
Fernandes Miranda (my great grandmother) 1857 – 1938. Miranda was not my
great grandfather. Her first husband, Luis Fernandes was.

Manuel Miranda and Roza raised her granddaughter Rose and when Rose was
about eighteen she was married to his youngest son Frank.

That would almost cetainly be Manuel Viveiros Miranda, of the Viveiros
Mirandas of Bretanha, S. Miguel. I can narrow it down for you iof you
provide me with the names of his wives. Ihave many Manuel Viveirs Mirandas
in my file. Dates and places would be helpful.

I doubt this will be much help, but here it is just in case since you don’t
see the name Miranda very often.

I have a Manuel V. Miranda 1847 – 1923 who was my great grandmother’s second
husband. I know he was born in the Azores. I’m pretty sure it was Sao Miguel
but I don’t have any documents to prove the island. He had two sons that I
know of. Antone Miranda 1879 – 1942 born in the Azores and Frank P. Miranda
1891 – 1931 born in the US who married my grandmother’s sister. (Yep, he
married his step-niece who was 20 years younger. Yuk!) They lived in the
San Jose Calif. area and are buried at Calvery Cemetery in San Jose, CA.

I would love to see more of this. My grandfather was born in Sao Miguel.
Evaristo Rodrigues Medeiros. His father was Antonio R R Medeiros. His wife
was Emilia Cabral. They had 8 children including my grandfather. Need to
find a connection someday somewhere.
