Hello Herb, This is exciting. I am a descendent of August da Ponte and Maria Julia from Ribeira Grande. They had a son Francisco Da Ponte born in 1899 (my great grandfather). Don't know much about him except he sent his wife to Terceira with 2 young children, her expecting him to join her after. But that didn't happen. He sent her out on purpose so he can be with another woman, whom he had many children with.
