CD, I think I have found your family. Someone has a family chart on Ancestry and I think it is your family. If I am right, the parents of your Jose are Joseph Silveira Duarte 1849-1936 b. Flamenga, Porta da Horta, Faial, Azores, died Newark, Alameda County CA buried Centerville (now Fremont CA) and his wife Mariana Orlena Faria 1861-1926 b. Feitera, Porta da Horta, Faial, Azores. They were married May 14, 1877 Mission San Jose, CA. They had 11 children, one named Jose. She does not have much about your Jose and she might want to fill in those blanks. She takes these families further back. This would explain Jose's sons using the Silva surname.
