I broke it into 2 pieces to enlarge it a bit. The entry for my family is no. 447 Jose de Medeiros, age 28. I can't make out his mother's name. Any guesses? Does VF usually stand for Vila Franca, and is that the same as Villa Franca do Campo? I thought he (or at least his wife) was from Ponta Garca, but that doesn't look like the frequesia entered here. Can anyone read the freguesia listed here? He was accompanied by 3 others (which are seen better in the 2nd tiff file). The wife Maria do Carmo, age 34. a daughter, Elisa, 4 and a son, Manuel, age 2. This family corresponds to a listing of passengers arriving in Hawaii on the Monarch in July 1882, with a 2nd son (Jose) who was born at sea.
