I've yet to find any indication of whether founder George Foster was of Portuguese descent or not. However, I wonder if it's mere coincidence that the Wikipedia article lists the first franchise as having been located in the Luso hotbed of Tulare, California. Also interesting were reminiscences of it from her youth by Tulare Historical Museum executive director Terry Brazil, as that surname is well-known on São Jorge and Terceira.
