While looking at another family's genealogy book, they had started at the beginning of their tree (as far back as they could get). Each "child" was given 1,2,3,4 in the order in which they were born. The first child of #1 was 11. The second would be 12. The children of 2 would be 21,22,23 etc. It was quite interesting! This family had a huge book! Since I'm still trying to find some great, great, greats, I haven't used this system but it's the only one I have seen in use. - Shirl - Sereque, Seriqui, Benarus. Bemsabat. This doesn't just concern Azores research, but I'd love to hear about systems or rules people use for their family history records. Does it make sense to assign a unique number to each individual that is added or to only use numbers (e.g. ahnentafel system) when creating a report for a specific branch of the family? What are good references for organizing family history records? I use Reunion (for Macs) and am still learning about its features. Thanks!
